elements. A landscaped courtyard space was created between the new medical office building and the existing medical center for employee and patient use. The chilled water HVAC system and emergency generator are screened from view behind the building. The covered parking is screened with architectural metal mesh in framed openings to complement the building's fenestration pattern. The project also included design of a unique 30' high screening element for the nearby central plant, using architectural metal in a steel frame.

For this medical office building, the first floor tenant, a cancer treatment center, needed an identity that would distinguish it from the rest of the tenants, who also desired a distinctive building identity. TAG met the client’s needs for innovative design solutions by including design and detailing features that aesthetically enhanced the building without increasing the budget.

TAG was engaged by its client to master plan and design a four-phase medical office building complex adjacent to a major hospital. TAG designed the three-story office buildings to be compatible with the hospital while establishing a distinct identity for the physicians, staff, and visitors who would use the office buildings.

Plano, Texas

100,000 sf Medical Office Building

9,000 sf Radiology Department

Project Features:

The Medical Center of Plano's campus was expanding across a major roadway and TAG was asked to design a new four-story medical office building to be connected by a pedestrian bridge to the main hospital campus.

Included in the building is a new Radiology Department with modalities consisting of MRI, CT Scanner, and general radiation rooms, as well as a Womens' Imaging Suite with mammography, ultrasound, and a steriotactic room. In a later second phase, TAG designed an 800 car parking garage adjacent to the building, connected with a covered walkway.

the development and finish out of this build-to-suit, freestanding ambulatory surgery center. TAG’s challenge was to address the individual needs of each organization and create a distinct identity for the surgery center while blending the building into the context of an existing medical campus. TAG created a unique entrance canopy that accommodates both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and emphasized a tall lobby space to invite patients into a warm environment that features exposed brick interior walls, and clerestory natural day lighting.

TAG collaborated with HCA Healthcare in diligent planning to create an architectural solution that optimizes patient flow, ensures patient privacy, and maintains control of sterile environments.
